๐จ๐ปโ๐ป About Me
Iโm a multidisciplinary engineer with a Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering and a background spanning audio
systems, scientific computing, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps. Iโve led software teams at one of the worldโs most
powerful telescopes, built a WHO-recognized open data platform, and have been shipping production systems across
America and Europe for over 15 years.
Currently an Infrastructure Engineer at Shiftmove ยท
CTO at EmbedX โ a Chilean insurtech making insurance more accessible.
๐ Career highlights
๐ก Delivered the software that coupled ALMA to the Event Horizon Telescope, contributing to the first-ever image of a black hole
๐ Built the COVID-19 data repository for the Chilean Ministry of Science, recognized by the WHO as one of the most open data repositories worldwide
โ๏ธ Ported Comscore on prem apps to the cloud
๐ก๏ธ Drove DevSecOps adoption and Kubernetes-native delivery at ZeroFox and Sovos
๐ Co-founded EmbedX โ from building our PoC to achieve product-market fit pivoting in between and building and leading a small team of developers along the way
๐ Full story
I define myself as a curious and eclectic engineer: someone who has consistently followed technical depth wherever it
led, even when that meant reinventing my path.
My background begins in Sound Engineering, where I started my career maintaining audio infrastructure at Canal 13 in
Chile. A growing passion for network systems and open-source technologies (GNU/Linux in particular) eventually led me
to pursue a second degree in Computer Engineering, turning what had started as a side interest into a core expertise.
As I completed that degree, I joined the ALMA Observatory. I started on the science side, as part of the team
responsible for selecting which astronomical projects would receive observation time each year. Eager to go further,
I transitioned into the computing department as a Testing Engineer, and from there progressed to leading the software
team responsible for the telescopeโs control framework. Among the highlights of that chapter: I led the migration of
the control framework from Europe to Chile, and our team delivered the software version that coupled ALMA to the Event
Horizon Telescope โ contributing to the first-ever image of a black hole. During this period I also completed a Master
of Engineering in Industrial Engineering, and led a second team driving DevOps adoption internally, introducing
containerization, observability, and automation across a number of previously manual processes.
I then joined the Data Observatory, where the mission was to democratize access to computing power and data across
Chile. The work Iโm most proud of from that period is the COVID-19 data repository we designed, built, and
maintained for the Chilean Ministry of Science, Technology and Knowledge, subsequently recognized by the WHO as one of
the most open data repositories in the world.
Following that, I joined Comscore, where I grew considerably as a DevOps Engineer and contributed to significant
cloud migration efforts. At Sovos, I led a team focused on closing the gap between Development and Operations,
reducing time to market and driving Kubernetes and cloud-native adoption across the organization.
At ZeroFox - a company with an engineering culture I genuinely admired - I served as both DevOps Engineer and
Scrum Master for the DevSecOps team, with a focus on embedding security practices meaningfully into the delivery pipeline.
I currently work as an Infrastructure Engineer at Shiftmove, where Iโve encountered technical and personal challenges I
didnโt fully anticipate โ including building a new life in a new country and living in a new language, which has been
as rewarding as it has been demanding.
Since 2019, I have also served as CTO and Software Ninja at EmbedX (formerly Perk.cl), a Chilean insurtech startup
dedicated to simplifying and democratizing access to insurance.
๐ธ Beyond Engineering
Iโve played electric guitar since I was 14. At 20, I started building my own stompboxes and amplifiers, which taught me
more about discipline, resilience, and the drive to figure things out on my own terms than almost anything else,
first learning to play the songs I loved, then modifying electronics until they sounded exactly the way I wanted.
Always interested in hard engineering problems, open-source collaboration, and projects with real-world impact.
Feel free to reach out.

Also, Iโve contributed with 1084 pull requests.
